Vice President -

Finance & Administration Department - Financial Accounting Team

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Lead Financial Accounting team to ensure the high performance and integrity of financial control functions of the Bank.
Support the end-to-end financial accounting processes and preparation of accurate and timely financial books and records to ensure the compliance with the accounting standards, such as Japanese GAAP, regulatory requirements, and SMBC Group policies.
Manage inventory and prioritization of the operational processes of the team and define roadmap to achieve operational efficiency
Review inventory and processes to identify opportunities of standardization with the Group and the region.
Support on various financial and analytical parameters to support senior management in effective decision making.
Liaise with Internal and External Auditors to ensure audit readiness, timely provision of requested documentation, and follow-up on audit findings.
Manage the tax reporting and the preparation of relevant information, liaise with external tax consultants, tax authorities to ensure compliance with tax requirements.
Provide technical support and advice on financial accounting to accommodate the Business and Group strategy
Ensure relevant policies, procedures and guidance notes are developed, established and updated for the Branch’s financial control activities.
Collaborate with senior management, auditors, tax advisors, business units, and external consultants to provide financial guidance, support audits, and implement financial controls.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance/ Accounting/ Banking related disciplines

• Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in financial institutions

• Holding a recognized professional accounting qualification or equivalent preferred

• Understanding of Japanese GAAP, IFRS, tax regulations and rules is an advantage

• Audit experience is an advantage.
